Transportation

The gateway to the fabled Las Vegas in Nevada, with The Strip as the ultimate destination, is the McCarran International Airport, where regular commercial flights to Las Vegas Valley from various points within the United States and other nations are available.

For those who want to travel in style, they can opt for various helicopter services (like the Sundance Helicopters, Maverick Helicopter Inc., Papillon Grand Canyon Helicopters, and Turbomeca Action Helicopter Service) and jet services (Merit Jets, Vegas Jet, and Jet Tec USA, Vision Air Jet Charter and Eagle Jet Aviation) with Las Vegas as destination. Charter flights via helicopters and jets can be arranged.

Helicopters and jets use the various designated Nevada heliports like the Henderson-Lake Las Vegas Heliport, Las Vegas- Maverick Heliport and the Boulder City-Eldorado Substation Heliport. Private hotel-casino heliports and landing facilities of private structures are also used as entry fields, like the Las Vegas-Excalibur Hotel Casino Heliport, Las Vegas-Summerlin Medical Center Heliport and the Las Vegas-Valley Hospital Medical Center Heliport.

A number of car services like US Rent-A-Car, Eminence Luxury Services, LLC, Las Vegas Limousine and Car Service, Meineke Car Care Center and First Exotic Car Rentals operate within The Strip Area. There are taxis for hire, either to and from the airport and by phone in hotel calling centers.

Resorts and casino networks in Las Vegas also operate a free shuttle service to guests on a quick hopping spree downtown, accessible via room key presentation of the affiliate hotel or casino.

For the more practical visitors, there are buses that regularly ply Las Vegas, such as the City Ride Bus Service with two downtown area routes operated by the Transportation Services Division, and the Citizens Area Transit or CAT Bus operated by the Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada.

Another mass-transit choice is the Las Vegas Monorail right in the heart of The Strip, which runs from the MGM Grand in the south to the Sahara Hotel and Casino in the north. Most hotels and casinos have redesigned their walkways and facades to be more pedestrian-friendly, and as such, a walking tour of The Strip is also a good way to explore Las Vegas.
